& Staff Will Help Students Move Into Dorms This Week

A
warm welcome awaits dorm students when they move into University
of Memphis residence halls Aug. 21 and 22.
More than 100 U of M employees have volunteered to help students
move their clothing, computers, refrigerators, microwaves,
stereos and other necessities of modern college life into
their on-campus rooms. Volunteers will include groundskeepers,
professors, secretaries and others from the University's staff.
Employees
will greet students and their parents in the parking lots,
offer them soft drinks, and lend a hand carrying items up
to rooms. The offices of Residence Life and Physical Plant
and Planning will direct activities.
Some
freshmen will move in on Thursday, Aug. 21, between 10 a.m.
and 2 p.m. Most students are expected to arrive Friday, Aug.
22, between 1 and 5 p.m.
A
number of activities are scheduled for Friday, including Football
Fanfest on the South Campus. The Student Activities Council
is also sponsoring an outdoor movie, dance and midnight breakfast.
This
is the sixth year for Operation Warm Welcome. Classes for
the fall semester begin Monday, Aug. 25.
