Dr.
Kristen N. Moreno, a post-doctoral fellow in psychology at
The University of Memphis, has received a grant to study the
impact of violent video games on aggressive behavior. The
$1,960 Grants-In-Aid Award is from the Society for the Psychological
Study of Social Issues (SPSSI); it is one of the larger grants
given by the Society.
Moreno's
research focuses broadly on interactions between humans and
computers. A graduate of the University of Southern California,
she earned her doctorate from Northwestern University.
SPSSI
is a group of more than 3,500 psychologists, scientists, students
and others who share an interest in research on the psychological
impact of important social issues and problems. It distributes
theories and research findings on social issues so they can
be used to help form policy decisions.
The
SPSSI's grants-in-aid program provides funding to doctoral
level scholars and graduate students for scientific research
into social issues and problems, especially those not likely
to receive support from traditional sources.
