The Memphis Speech and Hearing Center at the University of Memphis is seeking volunteers for a research project involving auditory processing of time-compressed speech. Participants should be 20 to 40 years of age and have normal hearing. Time-compressed speech is a word or sentence that is squeezed into a very short period of time when it is presented to a listener. It is used to overload, and thus test, the brain's auditory system and possibly identify any breakdowns or deficits in the auditory cortex, the area of the brain that controls speech.
