In
a medley of movement, University of Memphis students will
present 11 solo and company dance pieces Nov. 23 and 24 in
"Proceed with Caution." Both performances will begin
at 8 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre. Admission is free.
Nine
student choreographers have created a musical soundscape of
pieces that vary widely in structure and intention, from pop
tunes to oldies to the original scores of Sean P. Murphy.
Dances
include Shellie Gravitt's "Misleading Revelations,"
a collaboration between dancers and choreographers that uses
light and sound to create a work within a black box stage.
Milanda McGinnis' "How does It Feel" depicts seven
strong women enjoying the music of soul legend James Brown.
"Shout of Dahn" by Soo Bin Suh illustrates aspects
of colonial rule in Korea. Arwin King's "Reflections"
explores the relationship between mothers and daughters.
