Historian Will Receive Liberal Studies Award

Dr.
Fred Albertson, associate professor of art at The University
of Memphis, is one of three individuals selected to receive
the first Association for General and Liberal Studies Faculty
Award. The national award recognizes commitment to teaching
and leadership in the areas of general and liberal studies.
Albertson
teaches courses in Greek art and ancient art. He is a past
recipient of the University's Distinguished Teaching Award
and the Dean's Faculty Advisor Award, which is presented by
the U of M College of Communication and Fine Arts. Albertson
is one of 23 Americans to receive the prestigious Rome Prize
for study at the American Academy in Rome.
His
latest award will be presented at the AGLS conference Oct.
17-19 in Louisville, Ky. Established in 1961, AGLS strives
to enrich the educational experience of American college students
by stimulating discourse among professors, administrators
and others concerned with the purpose, scope and nature of
liberal education.
