The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) will hold its Professional Development Conference Oct. 14-15 at the University of Memphis' Fogelman Executive Center. Participants will learn about current developments in their industries and gain leadership and professional growth skills by exploring the conference's five tracks: managing people, managing resources, managing careers, Lean applications, and Lean tools and training. The SME Memphis chapter will host a pre-conference Gaining Lean Leadership Confidence seminar Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The seminar will be led by John Allen of Total Systems Development of Lexington, Ky. A reception will follow in Fogelman Executive Center atrium.
