For release: April 20, 2009 For press information, contact Gabrielle Maxey, 901/678-2843
Faculty Scholarship Week will be observed April 22-29 at the University of Memphis. The event will celebrate the quality and quantity of scholarship produced by U of M faculty members, including books, articles, CDs, films, and works of art.
Faculty-authored and created publications and works in a variety of media and from numerous University colleges and departments will be displayed in the rotunda of the Ned R. McWherter Library from April 22 through April 28, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The displayed material represents only a fraction of the productivity of University faculty; four volumes of faculty publications and creations from 2008 also will be available for examination.
There will be a special display table for all University award winners in the various areas – research, engaged scholarship, teaching, advising, and service, including the winner of the Willard R. Sparks Eminent Faculty Award, Dr. Robyn Cox of the School of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
The display will be transferred to the Rose Theatre the morning of April 29 as an important feature of Spring Convocation festivities. Convocation begins at 2 p.m. in the Rose Theatre, followed by a reception.
Faculty Scholarship Week is sponsored by the University Libraries with the support of the Friends of Libraries, working in coordination with U of M Academic Affairs and Special Events.
