Dan Murrell Named Director of Planned Giving at U of MFor release: July 25, 2008 For press information, contact Gabrielle Maxey
Dan Murrell has joined the University of Memphis as director of planned giving. In addition to managing a portfolio of donors, he will be responsible for designing and implementing a marketing plan to increase donor awareness of planned giving opportunities and benefits.
Murrell will work with donors who are considering or making planned gifts and will provide counsel, technical support, and training for major gift officers and senior University administrators. Additionally, he will develop a stewardship program for donors who include the University in their estate plans. Murrell has more than 10 years of development experience. For the past two years, he has served as director of development for the Community Foundation of Memphis, where he was primarily involved with new fund development, donor services, and donor education. Prior to that, he was director of development and community relations for Trezevant Manor. A graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., Murrell also holds a master’s degree from the University of Memphis. He has earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation.
