Ranta Elected Treasurer of Southern Arts Federation

Dr. Richard Ranta, dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts at the University of Memphis, has been elected treasurer of the Southern Arts Federation, a regional arts organization.

Among its missions, the nonprofit organization assists in the professional development of artists, arts organizations, and arts professionals; presents, promotes, and produces Southern arts and cultural programming; and advocates for the arts and arts education. The SAF works in partnership with the nine arts agencies of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

The group is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, foundations, corporations, and member states.

Ranta has been dean of the college since it was formed in 1977.
