U of M forum one of three in Tennessee to focus on statewide sustainability plan

The Ecological Research Center at the UofM is one of the hosts for a “Regional Forum for a Sustainable Tennessee,” set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20, at the Fogelman Executive Center on the University of Memphis campus.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Friday will feature a seminar lead by Doug Farr, president and founder of Farr Associates Architecture and Urban Design, whose stated mission is to “...design sustainable human environments.” Farr will lead participants in evaluating five regional real estate developments. They will be evaluated according to LEED-ND standards.

Saturday’s sessions will include a keynote address by Bob Ford of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Other facets of Saturday’s event will include discussions of sustainability plans from national, regional, state, and county perspectives, and breakout sessions dealing with healthy communities, natural infrastructure, renewable and alternative energy, and sustainable design and development.

Registration is $175 for both days, $120 for Friday only, and $75 for Saturday only.
